My Story

Welcome to Rebecca Kopp Interiors! The concept of RKI really began to gel when Rebecca moved "back to her home state" of Kansas.

Upon moving across the country in 2021 she wanted to start a business that would create a cultural bridge between her place of origin (the Midwest) and the various other states she had lived for all of her adult life. The business concept Rebecca began to work on then was called Shop CAMO design and represented a merging of aesthetics between California (CA) and Missouri (MO) ...where she moved within the Kansas City metro; KC is indeed a city that straddles two states.

Due to her love of vintage and antiques Rebecca then traveled twice to the one-of-a-kind shopping experience that is Round Top, Texas since she now lived close enough to make a quick-trip of the journey. After those travels Rebecca was inspired to open an antique booth at a well established location in Kansas City called Glenwood Antique Mall. That antique business was dubbed "Trader Bec's" and was open for a year, only closing after the birth of Rebecca's son when maintaining the retail location was no longer viable.

Today, Rebecca is an Interior Designer and mom but before her motherhood journey began in 2024 she grew up crawling around home decor showrooms in Topeka, Kansas thanks to her father’s and family's involvement in the industry. Her Dad, Paul, was and still is both a painter and a business man, a striking combination that impacts her to this day.

During her childhood Rebecca's father's retail showroom in Topeka was called Kopp’s Carpet. His Sister also owned a store called Kopp's Decorating Center but it was located an hour away in Kansas City, Kansas. This business is still operating today under new ownership but the building boasts original signage visible from a major Kansas City highway.

Rebecca's Uncle, Don, also owns and operates yet another design business in Kansas City called Designer’s Library - trade only interior design showroom. Watch the video below to see the store today which is only open to the design trade. From this family involvement in the industry Rebecca understood from a young age that curating beautiful things was to be a personal passion.

When it came time to establish her career Rebecca went out west to California, earning a Bachelor’s in Urban Studies from the San Francisco Art Institute and a Master’s in Public Art Studies/Curatorial Practice from the University of Southern California.

One of her first jobs post graduate school was working with Dwell magazine's Dwell On Design trade show in Los Angeles; Dwell is known in the industry for its celebration of modern architecture and living.

She spent the next 13 years cutting-her-teeth at California’s top interior design firms, art galleries, and working with creative brands in both Southern and Northern California before moving back to the Midwest in 2021. One such gallery role even led her to organize an art exhibition of work by Kevin O'Leary in support of a notable charity.

Prior to moving to Kansas City in 2021, Rebecca was living in Healdsburg, CA (beautiful wine country, located one-hour north of San Francisco). While there she worked in two creative professional roles. The first was business development for a luxury event rental company in Napa called Theoni Collection, and the second was global sales direction for a Czech-California brand called SkLO.
